Patient's often come to us concerned about the safety of teeth whitening treatments. While the treatment does involve the use of bleach, it is at a safe, concentrated level that poses little to no risk. While teeth whitening is a safe procedure, like all treatment there is the possibility of side effects occurring. These normally include tooth sensitivity, tender gums and/or a sore throat. Tooth sensitivity will often only last for a short period and will go away on its own however your dentist may recommend you use a sensitive toothpaste for this period. Tender gums and a sore throat will usually only be a side effect for those that use an at home whitening kit and overfill the bleaching tray. This causes the treatment to leak out onto gum or down the throat. Like sensitivity this irritation will go away by itself after a couple of days. Before you begin treatment, your dentist will assess your teeth and oral health to confirm that you are suitable candidate for whitening. This will help reduce any risk of side effects occurring.

While brushing and flossing are vital steps in maintaining top oral health, they are not enough on their own. It is recommended that you also visit your dentist every six months for a check-up and clean. Not only does this allow our dentists to remove any build-up of plaque and bacteria, it also provides them with the opportunity to identify any current issues and look out for any future problems that may occur. We believe that prevention is better than a cure and by coming for regular check-ups rather than waiting for an issue to arise, you are likely to save yourself a lot of time and pain.

Radiographic or X-ray examinations provide your dental team with an important diagnostic tool that shows the condition of your teeth, their roots, jaw placement and the overall composition of your facial bones. X-rays can help your dentist determine the presence or degree of periodontal disease, abscesses and many abnormal growths, such as cysts and tumours. X-rays can also show the exact location of impacted teeth. They can pinpoint the location of cavities and other signs of disease that may not be possible to detect through visual examination (such as changes in the jaw bone structure as a result of systemic disease). Finding and treating dental problems at an early stage can save time, money and unnecessary discomfort. At Brisbane Dental Studio we use state of the art Digital Radiography to minimise exposure.

The difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your health fund. And there's no more paperwork! No more queuing or fill in claim forms.
HICAPS is supported by all of the major health funds (currently 45 health insurance companies are members). To learn more about the HICAPS supported health funds, visit the HICAPS website or call HICAPS on: 1800 80 57 80.
At Brisbane Dental Studio we recommend the ideal time for your child to meet their dentist is 6 months after their first primary tooth has erupted, usually around 3 years of age. This allows your child to familiarise themselves with their dentist and feel comfortable in the dental environment before any real treatment is needed. It also provides the dentist and hygienist / Therapist an opportunity to assess your child's teeth and mouth and identify any future issues that could occur as well as teach proper brushing techniques.
This appointment is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions that you have about looking after your child's teeth.

Brisbane Dental Studio try to respect your time as much as you should respect ours. Short
notice cancellations, failure to attend and arriving late (more than 15 minutes) disrupts our other
patients and staff members.
We aim to provide excellent quality dental treatment for all of our patients, One of the ways that
we achieve that is by efficient use of appointment time and staff. A missed appointment or short
notice cancellation represent a cost to us and difficulty in scheduling for other patients looking
to secure an appointment. Due to the difficulties of filling last minute cancellations we require
48 hours notice.
Please advise us as soon as possible if you need to rearrange an appointment so that we can
offer your time to someone who is in urgent need of dental care. As we turn away other patients
to hold your appointment time, any missed or short notice cancelled appointment will attract a
cancellation fee.
Due to limited availability and high demand for appointments we have the following cancellation
policy.
Our front desk will send you a reminder call or SMS 48 hours before your appointment*.
Firstly, please read the text to confirm the date and time, then please respond either by
calling or replying to the SMS.
Failing to attend, rescheduling or cancelling appointments with MORE than 48 hours
notice is absolutely fine and we will be more than accommodating.
Failing to attend, rescheduling or cancelling appointments with LESS than 48 hours
notice needs a worthy reason as we understand things happen, cancellations for the first
time for feeling ill, stuck in traffic, bad weather, emergencies etc will not attract a
cancellation fee.
However, if you wish to make a second booking then we require an appointment holding
fee of $50 which, if you attend, will be taken off your cost of treatment or refunded if the
treatment does not exceed the $50 file credit.
We may also reserve the right to charge the cost of the treatment upfront before making
another appointment. This is only if there has been several cancellations and is
obviously a last resort. We would hope that it never comes to this.
Procedures that require long appointments, such as Zoom whitening and Smile Makeover,
require 50% deposit at the time of booking.
Brisbane Dental Studio reserve the right to ask patients who fail to attend, cancel appointments
at short notice, continually arrive late or are disrespectful or difficult to our team to source
another dental provider.
*Please bear in mind that if you do not receive a SMS or phone call, your appointment remains
your responsibility for you to attend or reschedule with more than 48 hours’ notice.
